Anne Lindyberg acknowledges that her life and work take place on the ancestral homelands of Indigenous peoples, particularly the Báxoǰe (Ioway), Meskwaki, and Sauk peoples in Iowa, as well as the many Native Nations connected with the lands now called Illinois. These lands were taken through colonization, warfare, coercive treaties, forced removal, and other forms of dispossession. She honors the sovereignty, enduring presence, and stewardship of these Nations, whose relationships with the land continue today.
